CORNWALL EXHIBITION
I have a new exhibition coming up at the wonderful Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens overlooking Mount's Bay in west Cornwall.
The show runs from 6 July to 3 August and features my Salt Series of pots that explore new ways sculpturally of representing salt and its significance - particularly highlighting the role it has played in the movement of people and trade.
Alongside the exhibition, I have been commissioned to make a large ceramic sculpture as a permanent installation in Tremenheere's new Peace Garden, which is due to open later this year.
Meanwhile, my solo exhibition Expressions of Salt and China Clay Traces will be running at the Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum in St Austell, Cornwall until 1 July.
Do please drop in at either exhibition if you are in Cornwall over the next few months.
NEW LONDON CLASSES
I am running a new set of pottery classes for beginners and more experienced potters at my Hammersmith studio over the summer. You are very welcome to join!
Dates are August 20, 21 and 22, and September 3, 4 and 5.
Numbers are limited to just three or four in each class, to allow plenty of time for individual attention.
The emphasis will be on sculptural hand-building techniques, decoration skills and creative exploration. Morning, afternoon and evening sessions are available and you can opt to do as many as you like.
If you are interested, please click here and I will send you a booking form (which has details of times, prices etc). Or get in touch if you want to chat further about the classes.
NEW WEBSITE AND ONLINE SHOP
My new and updated website has been launched and now features an online shop where you can browse and order some of my smaller pieces, including "granite glazed" plates and bowls.
It's a good place to view a small range of my work, from large scale sculptures to more domestic vessels, and learn about my creative process. I will be updating the shop but please get in touch if you want to visit the studio and see other work which isn't yet listed on my website.
November course in Cornwall
Finally, we have a couple of places left for the 2-8 November residential pottery course at our house and studio in lovely west Cornwall - the last course we are running this year.
As well as covering hand-building and decorating, the focus will be on glaze technology. We'll be doing raku and pit firings and other methods for creating special glaze effects using saggars in the gas kiln.
More details (including room choices and prices) are on the Cornish Pottery Holidays website here. Please let me know if you want more information or might be interested in booking.
